On February 25, 2019, representatives of the BRICS Youth Energy Agency and Deputy Director of the UN Information center in Moscow V. Pavinsky met at the Official United Nations office in Moscow. The theme of the meeting was the possible options for cooperation between the organizations. The Agency was represented at the meeting, by the head of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Platform of the BRICS YEA Arsenyi Kyrgyz-Barskyi and the head of Press department of the Agency Ekaterina Krymkina.

Established in 1948, the UN Information Center in Moscow is the oldest institution of the UN system in the country. One of the most important tasks of the center is to promote an “enlightened” understanding in Russia of the goals and priorities of the UN, including in the field of energy and youth policy, to promote greater contribution of the country to the activities of the Organization and the effective use of the experience and potential of the UN to improve the lives of Russians through the widespread dissemination of information about the work of the Organization among the population.

The UN information centre and BRICS YEA have common interests within the SDGs 2030 agenda for sustainable development. The information center offered opportunities for cooperation on the basis of the established structure of the Agency in 2018 Platform of the SDGs: the parties have discussed possible participation in joint activities on various platforms, expanding the network of Russian and international partners interested in the performance of the sustainable development Goals, and other forms of mutually beneficial cooperation. During the meeting, the options for cooperation between the UNCI and the BRICS YEA in the long term were also touched upon.

The main result of the meeting was the agreement of the UN Information center in Moscow to become the official information partner of the BRICS YEA.
