On April 22, 2019, the Head of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Platform by the BRICS YEA Arsenii Kirgizov-Barskii and UN Sustainable Development Goal #7 Youth Envoy to Russia Arina Dulepova took part in the round-table conference “Sustainable Development Goals and BRICS” held by the Analytical center for the Government of the Russian Federation and the Russian National Committee for BRICS Research. Experts from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, the Russian Science Academy and several research institutes including the MSU and the Financial University were among the speakers.
Arsenii and Arina delivered a report on the topic: “BRICS youth energy cooperation in the context of the UN sustainable development goals”.
The report highlighted the work of the Agency in implementing the 2030 Agenda and covered the most promising projects for 2019 (II BRICS YEA Summit, BRICS Youth Energy Outlook 2019, cooperation with the UN Information centers and the online research platform”BRICS YEA Network”).

Within the framework of the Conference experts considered the issues relating to the prospects of the BRICS involvement in global governance, growing contradictions between the countries, the idea of capitalization of environmental benefits and current achievements in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda in all the BRICS countries.

The representatives of the Agency commanded the attention of the audience and got several partnership proposals from some of those present.

We remind that BRICS YEA is one of the few platforms which is conducting research on the topic of sustainable development goals, in particular on the goal №7 “Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all”, being a key area for cooperation between the BRICS countries.

The participants appreciated the analytical value of the meeting and comprehensive information presented at the conference and believe that it can be an important contribution to identifying the further area of the research within the SDGs Platform.
