Convened under UN auspices, chaired by China, and hosted by Canada, the 15th Conference of Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity adopted the “Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework” (GBF), including four goals and 23 targets for achievement by 2030.

Among the global targets for 2030: Effective conservation of 30% of Earth’s lands, oceans, coastal areas, inland waters; Reduction by $500 billion of annual harmful government subsidies; Reduction of food waste in half.

BRICS YEA representative Ms Darina Elizarova followed the event on the ground in Montreal, Canada, also representing MGIMO-University as an observer to the official talks.
