BRICS Youth Energy Agency’s Director for Sustainability and Climate Vadim Kuznetsov is going to Milan, Italy, to attend the Pre-COP event “Youth4Climate: Driving Ambition”, which is taking place on September 28-30, 2021. He will negotiate climate change and adjacent issues together with nearly 400 delegates from all over the world. After multilateral negotiations, delegates will draft a joint resolution addressing multiple areas from energy transition to adaptation and resilience to meaningful youth engagement that will be presented and handed over to Ministers attending Pre-COP and later COP26 in Glasgow, UK, in November 2021.

In order to prepare for the event Vadim will have an expert consultation with Rosatom’s Chief Sustainability Director Ms. Polina Lion.

The global gathering is organized by Italy as a co-chair of this year’s COP and is held under the auspices of UNFCCC. It aims to synthesize policy recommendations that could help accelerate climate action. The event’s business program includes plenary sessions and panel discussions featuring Italian PM Mario Draghi and British PM Boris Johnson, UK COP26 President Designated Alok Sharma and Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio, and UN Secretary-General’s Youth Envoy Jayathma Wickramanayake and FAO Deputy Director Maurizio Martina.

If you are also in Milan and would like to meet up, please reach out to Vadim via email: kuznetsov@yeabrics.org.
