Dear friends! We would like to thank you for your participation in the BRICS Youth SDG Forum! We will be pleased to see you all at other events as we have a great agenda for 2021. We would also like to preserve here the memory of the first day of the SDG Forum 2020. Here is a short version of the press release about it: On December 14, a three-day BRICS Youth Forum on Sustainable Development Goals was launched in a hybrid format. The main goal of the Forum is to promote the participation of young people in generating effective and innovative ideas that can help achieve the SDGs by 2030. The issue of promoting the UN SDGs is one of the most relevant in the current unprecedented period, when the world is on the verge of significant transformations. The main topic of the first day of the Forum was “Youth of the developing world as a driver of achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals in the new decade”. As part of the program of the first day, two plenary sessions were held: Opening session of the BRICS Youth SDG Forum “Unlocking the Potential of Youth and Forging Closer BRICS Youth Cooperation to Ensure Accelerated Action for Sustainable Development” and “BRICS Youth: Shaping a Sustainable Future Together”. The participants were welcomed by Mr Alexander Vedekhin, Deputy Director of the State Youth Policy Department of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, and Mr Alexander Kormishin, Chairman of the BRICS YEA. The plenary session “BRICS Youth: Building a Sustainable Future Together” served as a platform for the exchange of experience among representatives of youth associations on the implementation of projects in the field of sustainable development, as well as successful practices of involving young people in achieving the SDGs at the national, regional and international levels. In addition, the participants discussed the prospects for BRICS youth cooperation in order to shape a sustainable future and introduced specific initiatives to develop cooperation.

𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝟱 ⠀ One of the key events of the Forum will be 𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗖𝗦+ 𝗣𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 “𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗼𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗚𝗼𝗮𝗹𝘀” ⠀ During the discussion, BRICS YEA, UN Major Group for Children and Youth (UN MGCY) and representatives of the youth wings of major regional groups will introduce the most significant practices of SDGs implementation in their regional groups (international organizations), as well as outline their own vision of what forms of cooperation at the macro-regional level will allow to achieve the sustainable development for BRICS Plus countries. ⠀ In working groups, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗱𝗿𝗮𝘄 𝘂𝗽 𝗮 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗱𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗼𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗗𝗚𝘀 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗖𝗦 𝗣𝗹𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗮, among which the best will be selected for further development and potential implementation.

Dear friends! At the threshold of the BRICS Youth SDG Forum we would like to remind you about our special project — #𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗖𝗦𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗦𝗗𝗚 ⠀ In 2020, honoring the 5th anniversary of adoption of the UNFCCC Paris Agreement and of the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development and celebrating the 75th anniversary since establishment of the United Nations, the SDG Platform by BRICS YEA launched a campaign «From BRICS with SDG♡» partnered with the SDG7 Constituency of the United Nations Major Group for Children and Youth. The campaign addresses young people who make a day-to-day change by contributing to achievement of the SDGs. ⠀ As you may know, this year the theme of the campaign is 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀. Cities need to become sustainable and energy efficient and it is the youth who should take alead as they are the ones who will be their future residents. ⠀ The #FromBRICSwithSDG Campaign "Smart and Sustainable Cities" had four main steps: guidelines and practices collection via survey, two days of webinars and workshops and the final event. ⠀ The campaign started with a survey where participants had an opportunity to share their ideas about applicable policy guidelines to make our cities smarter and more sustainable. ⠀ Then BRICS YEA organized webinars and workshops with leading experts and youth practitioners to understand more about sustainable urban management: Environmentally-Friendly and Efficient Transport and Buildings and Sustainable and Inclusive Municipal Governments and Business. As part of workshops, participants worked on the policy statements proposal along with young leaders and practitioners. ⠀ Final event of the campaign 2020 took place online at the 3rd BRICS Youth Energy Agency Summit (16 October 2020). The document was be handed over to mayors of BRICS countries as part of the BRICS Urban Forum 2020 and was called a comprehensive and ambitious paper🎉

𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝟰 ⠀ At the second 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 of the Forum 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗖𝗦 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗜𝗱𝗲𝗮𝘀 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗸 young people will get a unique opportunity to become the first contributors to the BRICS Sustainable Ideas Bank and decide which new proposals should be added! ⠀ During the session, participants will learn how 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁-𝗼𝗳-𝗶𝘁𝘀-𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗜𝗱𝗲𝗮𝘀 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗸 works. Participants will start working in multinational groups to identify the most pressing issues that BRICS countries are facing and create a list of sustainable problem-oriented solutions. ⠀ In the end, each group will present their proposals, the most creative of which will be determined by real-time vote and added to the BRICS Sustainable Ideas Bank for further policy recommendations.

𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝟯 ⠀ On 15 December young people will co-produce the leading topic for the 2021 campaign #FromBRICSwithSDG at the 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 #𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗖𝗦𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗦𝗗𝗚 “𝗦𝗗𝗚-𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟭” ⠀ During the session, participants will be brainstorming the most relevant SDG-related topics for the upcoming campaign in working groups. Their work will be facilitated by high-profile experts who will be guiding and supporting the groups’ workflow. ⠀ As a result, 𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗰 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗹 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗻’𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟭. ⠀ Tomorrow we will continue to tell you more about the great opportunities that the BRICS Youth SDG Forum provides for the participants. 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝟮 ⠀ The second major event of the Forum will be the plenary session on engaging young people of BRICS in promoting the Sustainable Development Goals #BRICSYouth2030 “𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗖𝗦 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵: 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿” which will take place on December 14 after the Opening plenary session. ⠀ During the session, representatives of youth-led and youth-oriented NGOs, SDG activists from BRICS countries and representatives of youth interregional organizations in the "BRICS +" format will 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗚𝗼𝗮𝗹𝘀 at the national, regional and international levels. ⠀ The participants will also have an opportunity to discuss the prospects of further BRICS youth cooperation aimed at shaping a sustainable future for all and present their own initiatives. ⠀ Let’s contribute to closer BRICS youth cooperation and shape our sustainable future together!
