The main objective of the Forum is to facilitate youth participation in generation of impactful and innovative ideas that can help achieve the UN SDGs by 2030. The Forum will feature plenary sessions and expert panel discussions, interactive workshops and foresight sessions, unleashing the Campaign #FromBRICSwithSDG and the BRICS Sustainable Ideas Bank.

Speakers & Participants

The event will gather high-profile decision-makers, experts and youth practitioners to empower active youth participation and facilitate their creative potential through cross-cultural team work and project development. The geographic scope of the event will cover the BRICS countries and other partner regional organizations, including the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Eurasian Economic Union, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and ASEAN.

Young people will get a unique opportunity to become the first contributors to the BRICS Sustainable Ideas Bank and decide which new proposals should be added.

BRICS+ Youth in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals

We note that BRICS are open to cooperation with the whole world, including the UN SDGs agenda. So does the Youth.

The Future Workshop “The View of the Youth on the Future of Energy in Northeast Eurasia in the Context of Current Trends in SDG №7” (in partnership with Student Energy)

Participants will develop regional roadmaps to involve young people in the process of transition to sustainable development of their economic sectors, including energy, taking into account that the pursuit of SDG 7 presents unique opportunities for the development of the region.

BRICS+ Plenary discussion “Extended youth cooperation for achievement of Sustainable Development Goals”

16:40-18:10 (GMT+3)

BRICS YEA, UN Major Group for Children and Youth (UN MGCY) and representatives of the youth wings of major regional groups will introduce the most significant practices of SDGs implementation in their regional groups (international organizations), as well as outline their own vision of what forms of cooperation at the macro-regional level will allow to achieve the sustainable development for BRICS Plus countries.

Closing session of the Forum under the presidency of the United Nations official

18:20-19:00 (GMT+3)

Within the framework of the closing session the United Nations representative will deliver a keynote address. The youth participants of the Forum will present the outcomes of their work during the Forum.

The Forum is co-organized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, National Youth Council of Russia, BRICS Youth Energy Agency and MIREA – Russian Technological University.
