On 15-17 April, 2025, the ECOSOC Youth Forum in New York gathers more than 100 young leaders to discuss key advancements in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals. This year, the UN marks 80 years of global impact which, from the very beginning of its mandate, has always relied on the peaceful use of modern science and technology, especially nuclear technology whose contribution spans across various sectors, from healthcare and agriculture to water safety and nutrition.
BRICS Youth Energy Agency with the support of the Russian Federation is organizing a side event titled “80 Years of Impact: Youth Contribution to the UN Goals with Nuclear Science and Technology”. The side event aims to showcase young people’s contribution to achieving SDGs 3, 8, and 14 through nuclear science and technology and provide space for young researchers to share their expertise and exchange ideas. It will highlight how young people use their knowledge and skills in the field of nuclear technologies in energy, medicine, water, and agriculture to help guarantee clean electricity, good health through diagnostics and cure, prevention of water pollution, and safe and healthy nutrition.
The side event takes place on 16 April, 2025 at 1pm – 2:15pm, NY Time/EST at the UN headquarters in New York, room CR-9. The side event is also broadcast at UN TV webtv.un.org.
