On November 14, 2019, at the 11th BRICS Summit, which was held under the motto “BRICS: Economic Growth for an Innovative Future,” the Heads of the BRICS countries concluded the Brasilia Declaration. The document contains a common vision of the BRICS countries on the main issues of cooperation between the five countries.
The Declaration is accompanied by several annexes reporting on the results of BRICS cooperation in 2019, as well as meetings and activities on humanitarian, business, judicial and legislative activities.
This group of the events includes the II BRICS Youth Energy Agency Summit, which took place on October 4-5, 2019 in Moscow, Russia.
It is also reported that joints efforts will be directed at development of the BRICS Innovation Research Network, the adoption of the concept of “BRICS New Architecture in Science, Technology and Innovation (NTI).” The leaders have also signed a provision on the BRICS Energy Research Platform.
In 2020, the BRICS Presidency will be transferred to Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that Russia intends to expand cooperation between the “five” states on international platforms.
