On June 19, BRICS YEA and UN Major Group for Children and Youth (UN MGCY) head their first meeting. The agenda of the meeting stipulated possible cooperation opportunities between organizations, especially in line with BRICS YEA activities focused on development of SDG7 based on SDG Platforms established by the Agency in 2018.

The online meeting was attended by representatives of the Science Policy Circle , which acts as the UN MGCY SDG7 Youth Constituency’s Global Focal Point, Mr. Benjamin Strzelecki and Mr. Chiagozie Udeh; BRICS YEA Chairperson Mr. Alexander Kormishin, Adviser to Chairman Mr. Arseny Kirgizov-Barskiy and Head of the SDG Platform Ms. Arina Dulepova.

At the meeting the parties discussed options for participation in joint events at various international platforms, involvement in the activities of the UN and other multilateral institutions, expanding the network of partners interested in the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and other forms of mutually beneficial cooperation, including official ones.

In addition, the organizations agreed to become media partners to better reach the audience and disseminate the UN Sustainable Development Agenda and specifically SDG7 among young people. The parties will continue to work together, also as part of the preparations to the 3rd BRICS Youth Energy Agency Summit, where the SDG Platform plans to hold an annual event dedicated to UN Sustainable Development Goals.
