The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.

Sustainable Development goal 7 aims at ensuring access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all. It has both economic and environmental significance and largely determines the transition of the global and national economies towards the “green” and low-carbon model.

Declaration of Intent on the Development of the BRICS Youth Cooperation in the field of Sustainable Energy on the base of the BRICS Youth Energy Agency
  • “The SDG Platform by BRICS YEA was launched in order to consolidate international research activities on the youth in the sphere of sustainable and clean energy, coordinate organisational initiatives of young scientists, enhance international youth and scientific cooperation between the BRICS countries and their partners all over the world. During almost 2 years after the Platform has been established, we managed to arrange two major conferences, launch scientific and research activities and trigger international cooperation in BRICS counties and beyond. I believe that it is just the beginning, and in the future we will successfully transform the planform into an international center for a wide range of research activities and cooperation of the youth in the sphere of sustainable energy”

  • “BRICS YEA is one of the few platforms which is conducting research on the topic of sustainable development goals, in particular on the goal №7, being a key area for cooperation between the BRICS countries. BRICS YEA places much importance on developing the potential of youth and contributing to the overall engagement and cooperation of BRICS member states within the SDGs 2030 agenda for sustainable development. BRICS YEA contributes to the fruitful international dialogue in order to intensify international cooperation, put into practice the ideas of young scientists and researchers, give them opportunities to achieve results, first and foremost in the sphere of sustainable development”
